About EPS and PIR

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) and Rigid Polyisocyanurate (PIR): thermal efficiency, sustainability, and technology for modern constructions.

EPS: Efficiency and Sustainability

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), popularly known as Styrofoam, is a lightweight and versatile material widely used for its thermal and acoustic insulation properties. Additionally, it is 100% recyclable and does not emit harmful substances to the environment, making it a sustainable choice for various applications.

EPS Recycling: Sustainability and Smart Reuse

Reciclagem de EPS

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), popularly known as Styrofoam®, is a widely used and 100% recyclable material. Although not biodegradable, its recycling prevents environmental impacts, reducing the volume of waste in landfills.

Isoart has two internal recycling centers, where it fully reuses generated waste, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.

PIR: High Technology and Safety

Polyisocyanurate (PIR) is a high-performance insulating material, mainly used in the production of thermal roofing and panels. Produced in an automated continuous line, PIR ensures superior thermal insulation and high fire resistance, essential for industrial, commercial, and residential projects.

PIR: The Protective Shield Against Fire Spread

The performance of Polyisocyanurate (PIR) in fire situations is one of its greatest advantages, offering an essential passive protection layer for any building. Unlike other materials, PIR does not contribute to the spread of flames.

When exposed to fire, the PIR panel core reacts uniquely: it forms a stable and insulating carbonized layer on its surface. This carbon barrier acts as a protective shield, performing three crucial functions:

01

Prevents Spread: The carbonized layer significantly slows material burning, containing the fire focus and preventing flames from spreading through the structure.

02

Protects the Core: Insulates the rest of the panel from intense heat, maintaining structural integrity for longer.

03

Low Smoke Emission: Contributes to keeping escape routes more visible and safe.

The test shown in the images proves this efficiency. Even under the direct action of a 30kW burner for 30 minutes, the fire was restricted to the contact area. At the end, the result was only superficial carbonization, with the rest of the panel intact and without any fire spread, demonstrating why PIR is the safest and smartest choice for your project.

Automated production for maximum efficiency

Isoart PIR roofing and panels are manufactured in a continuous and fully automated line, ensuring high precision, quality, and sustainability. With a polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulating core and galvalume steel sheet coating, the process includes high-pressure injection, continuous pressing, and automated cutting, ensuring excellent adhesion, finishing, and standardization. All products are cooled, stacked, and packaged automatically, ready for shipment.
